Entry fee will be $5 and must be paid in cash at the time of signup. No advance signups will be accepted. Please report to the area 15 minutes before scheduled start time in order to register; we will be unable to accomodate late entries once the bracket has already been created.
Match Settings
-1v1, 3 stocks, 7 minute time limit, double elimination
-Best 2 out of 3 matches advances, with winners’, losers’ and Grand Finals being best 3 out of 5
-Items must be set to OFF and NONE
-Sudden Death is not in effect. If the timer runs out, the player with the highest number of stocks will advance. If both players have the same amount of stocks, the player with the lowest percent damage will advance.
Stages
-First stage must be a RANDOM neutral (set between Final Destination, Battlefield, Smashville, and Yoshi’s Island). However, a specific neutral may be chosen first round if both players agree to it.
-The losing player is allowed to choose the next stage for a counterpick. Allowed counterpicks include any of the above neutrals, OR any of the following: Brinstar, Castle Siege, Corneria, Delfino Plaza, Frigate Orpheon, Halberd, Jungle Japes, Lylat Cruise, Pirate Ship, Pokemon Stadium 1 & 2, & Rainbow Cruise. (All other stages are banned.)
-The winner may choose one stage to “ban” for counterpick.
Banned Tactics
-No character bans will be in effect.
-Stalling is banned. This includes Meta Knight’s Infinite Dimensional Cape, repeatedly riding the bike under the stage with Wario, repeatedly flying under the stage and back with Pit, infinite roll with Sonic under Final Destination, etc. Tournament judge has final say over whether or not a move constitutes stalling – first time is a warning, second is a DQ.
-Excessive planking (repeatedly grabbing and regrabbing the ledge with intent to run out the timer) is banned---if you suspect your opponent has been planking, you may check the end stats to see if there are over 50 ledge-grabs, in which case they may be DQed.
-Pausing and restarting a match is not allowed.
General
-Bringing your own controllers is strongly encouraged. We highly recommend standard Nintendo GameCube Controllers; any battery issues arising from wireless controllers are at your own risk. It is your responsibility to ensure your controller is in proper working condition before using it at the tournament.
-Custom control configurations must be set BEFORE the match. Any complications arising from custom control issues (including using someone else’s tag) is at your own risk.
-When you are called to a match you must immediately report to your assigned station (even if you are playing a friendly!) If you hold up the tournament by leaving when you’re supposed to play a match, you may be DQed with no refund.
-Match disputes (regarding planking, banned stage, etc.) must be brought up immediately after playing the match in question. It is your responsibility to do this; we cannot go back and replay a match if the tournament has already proceeded.
